Xylouris White is firmly rooted in the past and future. Playing Cretan music of original and traditional composition, the band consists of Georgios Xylouris on Cretan laouto and vocals and Jim White on drum kit. Xylouris is known and loved by Cretans and Greeks at home and abroad and has been playing professionally from age 12. Jim White is an Australian drummer known and loved throughout the world as the drummer of Dirty Three, Venom P Stinger and now Xylouris White. For the last four years these two men have been performing as Xylouris White, the culmination of 25 years of friendship forged through music and place.

It was always a good gig with Ros in the pit. A beautiful person. She loved music, family, friends and a good Chardonnay.

Quite frankly, What’s My Scene would not exist without Ros. Her mentorship and tireless enthusiasm kept us going.

A great friend. An excellent photographer. We’ll miss you Ros.

Robert Cray has created a sound that rises from American roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. In just over 40 years Cray and his band have recorded 20 studio releases, 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts, and played bars, concert halls, festivals and arenas around the world.

Steel Panther was formed in 2000 and is Michael Starr (lead singer), Satchel (guitarist), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums). The fearsome foursome are not stopping anytime soon. “Our drive to bring heavy metal back has not lessened,” concludes Michael Starr. “It’s actually gotten stronger. We’re not going to stop. I look forward to our continued world domination.”

Last in Australia for Soundwave 2015, the band played main stages at the festival and drew massive numbers to their bombastic set, simultaneously offending and salaciously delighting all in attendance. In recent times, they have almost entirely sold out their UK tour, which included Wembley Stadium and played main stage at Download Festival.

Tex Perkins needs no introduction to Australian audiences, he is a legend within the Aussie music industry and is revered as one of the country’s rock n’ roll outlaws. It is said his affinity with Johnny Cash started in his earliest band and is an enthusiasm he hasn’t relinquished. After fronting The Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon and touring with Tex, Don and Charlie and The Dark Horses, Tex Perkins has had an incredible and varied music career.

Celebrating the 20 year anniversary of their award winning and chart topping album pink pills, The Mavis’s are hitting the road to play a limited run of shows to celebrate. Featuring songs spanning all 3 albums of their career, original members Matt, Beki and Nik will be touring together for the first time in over 15 years. Best known for their chart topping single Cry, The Mavis’s were staples on the radio and the TV in the 90s with songs such as Thunder, Lever, Puberty Song and Naughty Boy. Always hard to pigeon hole, The Mavis’s’ sound walked a tightrope between lush, layered pop, space age dub and electro, and hard edged guitar driven rock… with the duelling male female/ brother sister vocals. Their hit album Pink Pills effortlessly combined all these sounds to create one of the most eclectic and exciting albums of the nineties. 

Caligula is composed of five members: vocalist Ashley Rothschild, guitarist James McKinnon, drummer Dave Macken, Jamie Fonti (keyboards and backing singer), and bass guitarist Sean Fonti.

In 1994, they released the album Rubenesque and received national airplay on Triple J and Triple M with the songs “Tears of a Clown” (a remake of the Smokey Robinson & the Miracles song), “Before” and “Roundabout”.
