Tell us about your new single?
Lost is a song about coming out of a dark place. I wanted the song to create a positive atmosphere but at the same time talk about serious issues. It’s estimated that 45% of Australians could face mental health issues at some point in their life. That’s a whole bunch of us and I think it’s important for people to know they’re not alone in their struggle.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
[pullquote]I love learning from other artists in the way they write and produce.[/pullquote]I’d say I’m like a latte – smooth and nice to wake up to each morning!
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
Lost is my first single released by Pavement Records – it definitely resonates with me as I wrote from my own experience.
Any on the road anecdotes?
Well if by ‘on the road’ you mean on my way to work, then totes! I keep a nylon string in the back seat of my car just in case I get an idea on my daily commute. I’m usually late for work so don’t tell anyone (shh!)
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Musically I love to just trawl through soundcloud and let my ears get a fresh taste of what’s out there. I love learning from other artists in the way they write and produce.
What’s next for you?
I’ve got a few singles up my sleeve and am in the process of producing my first album. Super excited and can’t wait to get it out there.
What’s your scene?
That’s a hard one, although I do love anything electronic with an indie-pop feel!
Meet singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer, Franki. A Melbourne based artist working out of a makeshift home studio. When he’s not dreaming up new ideas in the control room you’ll find him jangling away on his guitar, searching for inspiration and melodies. Airy falsetto-vocal lines and memorable progressions are his trademark, creating a unique soundscape with each track.
Franki has signed up with the A&R department/Pavement Records and will be working exclusively with Matt O’Connor on releasing his first single – ‘Lost’.
“Lost is about finding your way out of a dark place and I tried to use all the elements to capture that.” – Franki
Lost was written, performed and produced by Franki in his home studio. Mixed and mastered by Daniel Kelaart at Grafete Studios, this song delivers on every level. If you like nostalgic indie electronica, you’ll definitely love this.
