Q&A
Tell us about your new single?
Lost is a song about coming out of a dark place. I wanted the song to create a positive atmosphere but at the same time talk about serious issues. It’s estimated that 45% of Australians could face mental health issues at some point in their life. That’s a whole bunch of us and I think it’s important for people to know they’re not alone in their struggle.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
[pullquote]I love learning from other artists in the way they write and produce.[/pullquote]I’d say I’m like a latte – smooth and nice to wake up to each morning!
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
Lost is my first single released by Pavement Records – it definitely resonates with me as I wrote from my own experience.
Any on the road anecdotes?
Well if by ‘on the road’ you mean on my way to work, then totes! I keep a nylon string in the back seat of my car just in case I get an idea on my daily commute. I’m usually late for work so don’t tell anyone (shh!)
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Musically I love to just trawl through soundcloud and let my ears get a fresh taste of what’s out there. I love learning from other artists in the way they write and produce.
What’s next for you?
I’ve got a few singles up my sleeve and am in the process of producing my first album. Super excited and can’t wait to get it out there.
What’s your scene?
That’s a hard one, although I do love anything electronic with an indie-pop feel!
