Japan’s wildest rock’n’roll band Stompin’ Riffraffs played Melbourne’s Night Cat venue on Thursday 8 November 2018, for their first-ever performance in Australia. The show commenced the underground garage rockers’ Kick Australia’s Ass Tour, and they treated the audience with their fuzz-soaked late-’50s sound throughout their set of original songs, complete with go-go dancers.

“I wrote this song as a bit of a fuck you to the people who never say sorry for their own mistakes, but then always demand an apology, even if I’m the one who was hurt the most. Easily the most empowering song we’ve ever written ha-ha. We were really going for a The Veronicas meets Slowdive kind of vibe, essentially blending the music of our childhood with the music of our teenage years.”

He’s the guy Prince modeled himself on. He’s the guy who has to his name production credits on some the greatest records of all time over a 50 year career such as The Band, The Psychedelic Furs, Badfinger, Cheap Trick, XTC, Hall & Oates, New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin. As well as a little record he took a gamble on by Meat Loaf called Bat Out Of Hell. He’s also arguably the biggest influence on the sound Kevin Parker honed for his band Tame Impala, as well as covered and sampled by the likes of Daft Punk, Hot Chip, The Avalanches.
