Recipe Scene: Kourabeithes

These Greek almond shortbreads, drenched in icing sugar, are one of my favourites. The recipe is very straightforward, however they are a little time consuming to make, depending on how pedantic you want to be with getting all the crescents to look the same.  Also they can make a bit of a mess due to all the icing sugar, and the need to work fairly quickly once they come out of the oven.  Despite this they are well worth the effort.  Give me a cup of coffee and plateful of these and I’m a happy woman.  […]

The NYC-based artist performed songs from his acclaimed new album American Utopia as well as classics from his solo career and his days with Talking Heads. A 12-piece band joined Byrne on stage for an Annie-B Parson choreographed concert that he has called “the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense.” Annie-B Parson also choreographed the St. Vincent and David Byrne collaboration tour around Love This Giant. Snap Scene: Teachers walk off for #KidsOffAllOff – Teachers for Refugees and Kids Off Nauru – State Library of Victoria – Tuesday 20th November

Scott Morrison’s suggestion that all children will come off Nauru by the end of December is a victory for the campaign. But he’s already back tracking on it. We need to ensure all refugees on Manus and Nauru are resettled in our communities, and not in onshore camps.

Contingents of teachers from schools across Melbourne took the afternoon off work on the 20th of November, Universal Children’s Day, and assembled at the State Library. […]
