Vintage Guitar Scene: 1967 White Gibson SG Junior

1967 White Gibson SG Junior (Serial Number 000000)

Around the start of the 2000s I walked into a ‘famous’ Sydney guitar shop and all the guys were crowded around this guitar, it had just come in. They were trying to determine if it was original because of the 000000 serial number.

I had a quick 10 second look and made the decision that it was an original. After a few minutes of further discussion by the other guys it was put back into its case and put aside. I picked up the guitar case and as I was walking out of the shop  with it I said “send me an invoice”.

It’s a great sounding instrument and it does sometimes get played at gigs.

  1. one of the rarest things these sgjrtv’s i have seen two other renditions one was 000003 and the other 000009 mine plays great after all these years, was a shipping funk up in 67 ordered a standard and got the sgjrtv

  2. my guess is after christmas holidays 1966 the came back to work to a pile of sg’s and started with the jr’s with the new serial stamps, not to many gibbys with 5 ,0’s in the serial me guessin 9

  3. Got one of these as a birthday gift from the brilliant guitarist peter baarlie from the band backstreet girls. Found a number at the back of the nut when i changed it . Says no serial numbers but some letters that are hard to read. It has a different pick guard but the number says sometin like nt mt 67…its a mystery but same guitar and allmost not used. Frets are perfect condition
