Tell us about your new single, Sands of Time?
I’ve been sitting on my song Sands of Time (as well as the secret catalyst for it) for pretty much 10 years! It’s just one of those songs that’s your ‘baby’ and I wanted it to be perfect before I released it. It’s pretty much a snapshot glimpse of my life…
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Cashew nuts and vegemite in a sandwich… yep. Think of the weirdest combination but absolute surprise when you taste how amazing it is!
Which of your songs resonate most strongly and why?
Every song of mine is a super personal story… I think I just resonate with whichever is the most recent because I haven’t heard it a billion times yet – haha
Tell us a quick, on the road, anecdote.
Well, I was in NZ just recently and we had a driver taking us from the airport to the festival site – driving through super beautiful country – Lord of the Rings style hills (roads) and a goose flew across the front of the car – our driver panicked and ducked his head underneath the steering wheel… during the swerve my life flashed before my eyes… I think we’re going to drive ourselves to the gigs from now on haha
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Lyric wise, the inspiration for my songs are usually my experiences or empathy towards loved ones… musically, anything that has a showy off character to it I love, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd & later Beatles
Which song do you wish you wrote?
Higher by creed…….. I jest ~ probably Sunshine of Your Love by Eric Clapton ~ that’s probably the most ubiquitous guitar riff (and Smoke on the Water) ~ sorry I just can’t pick one haha
What’s next for you?
Well… it’s early morning for a musician (11am) so probably breakfast… ~ I’m in the middle of writing a ‘large collection’ of songs, I don’t want to call it an album, but I can promise there’s heaps of releases on the horizon
What’s your scene?
Depends on the day of the week ~ one day I might be jamming psych rock the next I might be frothing gospel :)
