The last few months have been awesome for metalheads, as half of the ‘Big Four’ thrash metal bands have released brand new albums. Not to be outdone, Anthrax’s new album For All Kings is jam packed with classic thrash goodness fit for royalty.
Anthrax have stayed true to their distinctive sound in their 11th studio album, providing ears with blasts of thrash metals that form diverse and anthemic tracks that flow into one another like a raging river of molten metal. For All Kings provides some well-placed lulls to help catch your breath before you’re whisked away into the next furious track.
The album manages to have a diverse selection of songs that keep it feeling fresh with every listen. ‘Breathing Lightning’ eases nicely into pounding riffs and pulls into an uplifting chorus that manages to sound angelic and energetic at the same time. Joey Belladonna (Vocals) hits some intense high notes that maintain that eighties thrash metal feel, but doesn’t sound cheesy.
On the other hand, ‘Blood Eagle Wings’ is heavier, with guitar work that rhythmically smashes into you like a relentless wave. The drums help keep the track grounded as Belladonna’s vocals soar like the aforementioned wings in this seven minute epic. The chorus will hook you into headbanging along in no time.
The lyrics have some serious depth to them, incorporating core thrash metal themes like Anthrax have created an infectious album that will appeal to both die-hard fans and newcomers to the scene. This killer album is set for release on the 26th of February.
