Tell us about your new single ‘Love N Trust’?
The song LOVE N’ TRUST started off with just a simple vocal hook “ love… trust “ and evolved into a story about a long term relationship that was very much one sided love. The loved-up couple are stuck in a loophole where there is no escape. Even when they fight and cheat on each other they remain together… hoping one day they can just let it go.
This song is groovy-as and fits perfectly in festival vibes! You can’t help but dance to it and the hook just stays in your head! We are proud of this one!
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
Honestly we would have to say LOVE N’ TRUST. It was the song where we really found our sound together… from that we’ve built an awesome foundation and created so many cool upbeat songs that tell a story. The filmclip for LOVE N’ TRUST fits the song so well and I also think because the day filmed it was such a crazy wild day/night it gives us so many good memories. Alan Woodman from Nixie films did such an amazing job and managed to capture exactly what we were looking for. Plus we can’t stop watching the film clip and the moon thats in it! We are definitely proud of this and it’s our favourite at the moment.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Sushi! It’s our favourite food and it represents us because you can have anything with sushi! Our sound is such a mix from an awesome beat, to then big vocals and also storytelling lyrics. It’s a bit of everything! Plus, we eat it everyday so that has got to mean something right?
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
On our first Sold out show we only sang originals but amazingly enough the crowd knew the lyrics of the songs we haven’t even released yet! It was such an incredible experience. We did get in trouble though! The crowd was wild and we just kept cranking up the music! Was the BEST first sold out show ever… even if we did turn it up a little loud!
What, or who, inspires you? We try to draw inspiration from everything around us. We both have such beautiful families whom we are very close with. They inspire us everyday! So many talented people and artists that inspire us musically such as Rufus Du Sol and Hayden James. We find their music incredible and they know how to put on a show. It’s so important to see the world and meet as many people as possible because we are able to use all of those experiences in our songs.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
Rufus du sol – innerbloom
What’s next for you?
We wanna be performing at all the biggest venues around the world. We will keep writing and releasing songs. We love what we do and we are so lucky to be able to call this a job. So we will keep working hard and keep doing heaps of gigs. We love performing live.
What’s your scene?
Camping on the beach with the dogs and a few cold beers in hand sitting around a fire!
WE ARE ISO ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO LOVE N’ TRUST
Thrilling dance pop newcomers We Are Iso have today shared their lush new single Love n’ Trust – a considered track that floats through the perils of a one-sided relationship – accompanied by a stunning videodirected by Alan Woodman of Nixie Films.
We Are Iso, which is comprised of vocalist Straalen Mccallum and DJ Jessy Mulholland, were formed during the pandemic, and spent their time in isolation honing their unique brand of dance pop.
Love n’ Trust is an undeniable dancefloor filler – the pulsing rhythm and sweet synths throughout are guaranteed to get bodies moving. It’s electronic house-inspired dance pop at its finest; inspired by the likes of Chet Faker, Running Touch, Hayden James and RÜFÜS DU SOL, We Are Iso have an instant classic on their hands with Love n’ Trust. Speaking on the creation of the song, DJ Jessy Mulholland says, “The song started off with just a simple vocal hook – “love… trust” – and evolved into a story about a long-term relationship that was very much one-sided love. The couple are stuck in a loophole with no escape – even at their worst, when they fight and cheat on each other, they stay together, hoping one day they could just let it go…This song is groovy as, with a heavy festival vibe. You can’t help but dance to it and the hook gets stuck in your head! We are so proud of this one!”
Directed by Alan Woodman of Nixie Films, the video features We Are Iso performing late into the night in an untouched location, with an impressive light show to set the mood and lure viewers in with thatfittingly enticing, hypnotic vibe. “The song is super powerful so we wanted to keep the video stripped back to really let the song tell the story,” explains Straalen. “Filming at night was such a vibe eventhoughJessy was rugged up in his big jacket and I was freezing! It just felt so right for the song LOVE N’ TRUST. Alan our director was awesome and managed to capture the moon perfectly as it watched on directly behindus. All round, it was such an epic night and I’m so glad we got to capture it!”
We Are Iso are an unlikely duo – Straalen Mccallum is an acoustic-style singer songwriter, while Jessy Mulholland has years of experience in the tech/house scene as a DJ. They’ve been able to reach a strikinglyunique style by meshing their two musical perspectives together, and not only does it make for hypnotic and ultracool recorded tracks, but it also helps the duo to create a completely out of this world live experience, too. We Are Iso are already selling out shows in their hometown of the Gold Coast – and it won’t be long before they’re doing the same across the country.
We Are Iso is Straalen Mccallum and Jessy Mulholland. Love n’ Trust isout June 16.
