Tell us about your new single/album/tour?
Our most recent release is our second LP ‘Blueside’. It came out in December 2016 and is now sold out and awaiting repress. Pretty happy about that!
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
Hard to say, but tracks like ‘The Man’ and ‘Trees’ are probably our fav’s to play live.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote…
Once a mate of ours got the door stamp and stamped an outstandingly difficult promoter square on the forehead during an altercation. The stamp read “FUCKING BRILLIANT”
What, or who, inspires you?
We’re inspired by everything around us. That’s what expression is. Honesty and sincerity is a big thing for us too.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
The feelings felt from the music others have written could never be replaced with having written it yourself. It’s a completely different ball game. Having said that being a writer of one of the legendary blues standards would be pretty cool.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Mashed Potato – Its warm and satisfying.
What’s next for you?
Another lap of Australia in June and then our second European tour in July. We’d better say that another record is in the works also
What’s your scene?
Everyone’s scene. Anyone who is drawn to honest music. Because we play somewhat heavy music people who enjoy that are attracted to it. Our music is there for everybody to enjoy especially cats who never thought they would be into such things.
About CherryRock017
I’m James Young, the owner and booker of Cherry Bar and CherryRock017. I figure, who better to hear from, about our latest and greatest 11th annual AC/DC Lane street rock n roll festival, than yours truly, so listen up…
We’ve got legendary San Francisco garage punks Dwarves. Southern rock/ psychobilly from Atlanta’s Nashville Pussy. The incredible female two-piece, Bala, from Spain, who sound like Patti Smith out front of Motorhead. Bottlecap must be the bastard triplets of fellow Swedish rockers The Hives and The Hellacopters. Plus the best rock n roll coming from our Indonesian neighbours in Mooner and Kelompok Penerbang Roket (KPR).
But lest we forget our locals. We had to have Totally Unicorn from Wollongong, who ripped River Rocks a new arsehole last year. The sexy psych-blues of Child. Debbie Harry out front of Eddy Current Suppression Ring is how I see lo-fi garage punksters Amyl & The Sniffers. From the “ninch” (Mornington Peninsula) comes the band on everyone’s lips Stiff Richards, plus the 2016 Cherry Awards Act of the Year, Zombitches. And we’ve still got some incredible aces up our sleeves people! So, don’t miss it and buy your tix early, blah, blah, blah.
