Video Scene: Songs About Food and Drink “Dinner Bell” They Might Be Giants

Whilst there are copious references to food within this song, many believe the song is actually about Pavlov’s dog, and classic conditioning. In simple terms dogs naturally salivate in the presence of food and also in the presence of the person feeding them, so Pavlov starting ringing a bell when the dog was fed, to test this association and after repeating this a few times, the dog would start salivating when the bell was rung, even in the absence of food.
