Who doesn’t love Maltesers? Pretty much no one. Whenever I see the big gift boxes on sale at the supermarket I buy a couple of boxes so I can make this divine slice they are the perfect amount to make the slice, and snack on the leftovers with a nice cup of tea while the slice is setting. I’ve been thinking about mixing he Maltesers through my favourite hedgehog recipe, but I haven’t tried it yet. And you could easily make this with regular or peanut M & M’s.
Ingredients
Slice
125 grams butter
250 grams milk cooking chocolate
4 tablespoons golden syrup
250 grams chocolate ripple biscuits
225 grams Maltesers
Topping
200 grams (approx.) milk chocolate, melted
100 grams Maltesers, roughly chopped
50 grams (approx.) whilte chocolate, melted
Method
- Line a slice tray with baking paper. To make the base crush the biscuits into fine crumbs. Place the butter, chocolate and golden syrup in a large saucepan and melt, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat, add the biscuits and allow to cool a bit. Working quickly so the Maltesers coating doesn’t melt, stir the Maltesers through and tip the mix into the slice tray. Press evenly into the tray.
- Pour about 150 grams of the melted toping chocolate over the slice – doesn’t have to be precise, this is to allow the Maltesers to stick to the top. Sprinkle the chopped Maltesers over the top, and drizzle with the remainder of the milk chocolate, then drizzle the white chocolate. To get a nice even drizzle I use a small ziplock bag with the corner snipped off. Be sure to seal the bag though, otherwise all the chocolate will blob out the top.
- Place in the fridge to set, then cut into slices.
