Q&A Scene: Mick Hart

Album / EP / Single / Tour?

New album “Awake”. Released in April with European tour in April and Aus tour May/June/July.

What’s your favorite work at this point in time?

A song on the album called Keep Hold. It was a late addition and is a beautiful intimate acoustic track written in the eyes of a man suffering from loneliness and being homeless.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote…

Back in 2001 I played a tour opening for Sting around Australia. I was super excited and wondering if I’d be lucky enough to get the chance to meet him properly. Night 1 was at the Capital Theatre and I had a quick shower before the show. Next thing I was standing there naked in only a towel and Sting walks in my dressing room and says “Hey I’m Sting. You must be Mick? I’ve been wanting to meet you. Is that what you’re wearing onstage?”     Classic funny moment! :)

What, or who, inspires you?

He’s a brilliant keyboard player who still plays and tours at age 76! He’s currently playing in a big Elvis Tribute Band!

Which song do you wish you wrote?

Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. A simple and brilliant song that’s also been covered by so many.

What’s next for you?

My album comes out in April and I’m looking forward to touring it everywhere. Playing a 1 month tour in Europe in April followed by Aus tour dates through May, June and July.

What’s your scene?

Very simple and laid back. Good health, fitness and food and relaxed times with loved ones and great friends. I love time at the beach too!
