Q&A Scene: Big Daddy Wilson

Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?

The Album is called TIME, and I’m very excited about the album and happy to start off my first Australian Tour with this album. [pullquote]The songs are personal, songs about my childhood and my experience growing up in the south in the country, songs about the love of my life and about my blues journey.[/pullquote] I’m very happy about my two producers Eric Bibb & Staffan Astner. That was a fantastic collaboration, two genius in the studio. The main message that I try to bring across with this CD it’s that is time to move, it’s time to love one another, it’s time to come together.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

My music is like dessert and I’m thinking about PIE , all kinds of sweet Pies , like sweet potato pie, coconut pie and of course the great American apple pie.

Why pie ? Everybody likes pies, and pies are not to much and when its nice , hot and sweet it always hits the right spot. And anyway, I got a sweet tooth so you ask me about food I think about pies.

Which song resonates most strongly and why?

If we’re talking about songs from this album, I’m thinking about ” Daisy “. That’s a song I wrote for my daughter. She’s my little butterfly.

Have you been touring much?

Well, I am constantly on tour all over Europe.

Any on the road anecdotes?

We don’t have any anecdotes, we just take one day at a time and happy that it all works out. It’s truly a blessing.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Everything, everybody, every place, every situation, life , people are my biggest inspiration……just everyday people !

What’s next for you?

At the moment I’m working on a new CD with my Italian musicians, so I’m looking forward to that.

What’s your scene?

CCC: cool, calm and collective. Well, I’m a family man and I love nature and simple things. I love people with a lot of heart and soul , because that’s what you need to do this music. So I’m kinda like laid back, taking it easy, I’m built for comfort , not for speed.

Time is available now through ABC/Universal Music. You can purchase it here.
