Q&A Scene: Cherry Rock017 Special: Mooner

Tell us about your new single/album/tour?
Mooner is set to release an album on April in Indonesia, playing Cherry Rock on May and will be releasing 7″ with the help from Melbourne’s Sacred Blue Records

What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
Digging 70’s Indo Rock at the moment. Shark Move, Petty Sisters and Panbers to name a few.

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote…
for the recording process, we ignored every possible norm from the recording engineer. Turns out the album sounded pretty good, at least to us.

What, or who, inspires you?
Anyone that annoy us, they inspire us to do whatever the opposite of what they do. Like those engineers for example.

Which song do you wish you wrote?
Evil war by Shark Move

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Every dish that Gordon Ramsey spat out directly to trash bin.

What’s next for you?
Hopefully releasing our debut in the States and then US and European tour.

What’s your scene?
This is a very exciting moment in Indo rock scene, so many good band hungry for recognition.

About CherryRock017

I’m James Young, the owner and booker of Cherry Bar and CherryRock017. I figure, who better to hear from, about our latest and greatest 11th annual AC/DC Lane street rock n roll festival, than yours truly, so listen up…

We’ve got legendary San Francisco garage punks Dwarves. Southern rock/ psychobilly from Atlanta’s Nashville Pussy. The incredible female two-piece, Bala, from Spain, who sound like Patti Smith out front of Motorhead. Bottlecap must be the bastard triplets of fellow Swedish rockers The Hives and The Hellacopters. Plus the best rock n roll coming from our Indonesian neighbours in Mooner and Kelompok Penerbang Roket (KPR).

But lest we forget our locals. We had to have Totally Unicorn from Wollongong, who ripped River Rocks a new arsehole last year. The sexy psych-blues of Child. Debbie Harry out front of Eddy Current Suppression Ring is how I see lo-fi garage punksters Amyl & The Sniffers. From the “ninch” (Mornington Peninsula) comes the band on everyone’s lips Stiff Richards, plus the 2016 Cherry Awards Act of the Year, Zombitches.

And we’ve still got some incredible aces up our sleeves people! So, don’t miss it and buy your tix early, blah, blah, blah.
