Scene News: An Evening Of Storytelling With Mark Hoppus

No Band. No Setlist. Just Mark Hoppus.

For more than three decades, Mark Hoppus has been one of punk rock’s most recognisable voices. As the co-founder and bassist of Blink-182, he helped define a generation of pop-punk with albums that blended adolescent humour, raw emotion and sharp songwriting into something that resonated far beyond the skate parks and garages where it began.

But in March 2026, Australian audiences will see a very different side of Hoppus.

Instead of roaring guitars and stadium singalongs, Hoppus will take the stage alone for An Evening of Storytelling with Mark Hoppus, an intimate spoken-word tour presented by Live Nation. The event trades amplifiers for anecdotes, offering fans a rare opportunity to hear the stories behind the music — and the life that shaped it.

Drawing from his best-selling memoir Fahrenheit-182, the evening promises an honest and often hilarious journey through the highs, chaos and unexpected moments of a career that has spanned decades. Hoppus will reflect on the early days of Blink-182’s rise from Southern California’s underground scene to global fame, the creative experiments that followed with projects like +44 and Simple Creatures, and the friendships and misadventures that have become part of modern punk folklore.

Yet the show isn’t simply a nostalgic look back at pop-punk’s golden era. It also explores the more personal chapters of Hoppus’ life — the challenges of navigating fame, the realities of ageing in a genre built on youthful rebellion, and the resilience required to push forward through some of life’s most difficult moments.

In theatre settings designed for conversation rather than spectacle, audiences will experience Hoppus as something rarely seen on stage: a storyteller reflecting on creativity, survival and the strange, unpredictable journey of a life spent in music.

Australian audiences will have two chances to witness the event when the tour arrives at the Melbourne Recital Centre on 19 March and the Sydney Opera House on 21 March 2026.

Importantly, this is not a concert — but for fans of Hoppus and the music that shaped them, it may prove to be something even more memorable.
