Scene News: Baxter Dury Brings Cool, Cult Swagger Down Under for Allbarone Tour 2026

UK alternative icon Baxter Dury has confirmed his return to Australia, announcing the Allbarone tour for April and May 2026, with a run of intimate theatre shows across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before heading to New Zealand.

The tour arrives in support of his latest record Allbarone (2025), a bold, stripped-back release that sees Dury refine his signature blend of post-punk attitude, indietronica textures and art-rock cool into something sharper and more immediate. Produced by renowned hitmaker Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine), the album marks Dury’s first full-length project in over five years—and one that pushes his sound into sleek, futuristic territory.

Australian audiences will be the first to experience the new material live when the tour kicks off at Melbourne’s Forum on April 28, followed by Sydney’s Roundhouse on April 29 and Brisbane’s Tivoli on May 1. Known for his dry wit, magnetic stage presence and effortlessly stylish delivery, Dury’s live performances sit somewhere between a late-night monologue and a hypnotic groove session.

Speaking about the album, Dury described Allbarone as a deliberate departure from traditional band dynamics, aiming for something more contemporary and sonically distinct. “It doesn’t sound like a band made it at all… it’s just something that’s brand new for me,” he said, hinting at the minimalist yet confident direction that defines the record.

After the Australian dates, Dury will take the tour across the Tasman for performances at Auckland’s Hollywood Avondale on May 3 and Wellington’s Meow Nui on May 4, bringing the full Allbarone experience to New Zealand audiences.

Tickets for the Australian and New Zealand shows go on sale at 1pm (local time) on Thursday, February 5. Presale access begins earlier in the week, with Mastercard Australia and Westpac New Zealand customers able to purchase from 12pm on Tuesday, February 3, followed by a Live Nation presale at 12pm on Wednesday, February 4.

With Allbarone, Baxter Dury isn’t just returning—he’s reinventing. And for fans of sharp songwriting wrapped in cool, electronic swagger, this tour promises one of the most distinctive live offerings of 2026.
