The second song in our Led Zeppelin marathon is “Tangerine”. It is a love song like many of the songs in their repertoire and the live video features a young Robert Plant flicking his long curly hair about whilst introducing the song. Seeing anyone sporting curly hair particularly a rockstar is always welcome in this world where hair straighteners are overused. Copious sleek guitar riffs courtesy of Jimmy Page, a melancholy feel, minimal lyrics and some heartfelt harmonies in this ballad with Tangerine in the song title is another gem in the Zeppelin vault. Check out Plant, Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham do their thing live :
“Tangerine”
Measuring a summer’s day, I only finds it slips away to grey,
The hours, they bring me pain.
[Chorus]
Tangerine, Tangerine, Living reflection from a dream;
I was her love, she was my queen, And now a thousand years between.
Thinking how it used to be, Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again? And I do.
[Chorus]
