Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
We are embarking on a dual headline tour with old mates Long Holiday through September and October. They are promoting the first single taken from their upcoming release Sunny Disposition, and we are promoting the release of our video Mamma Said from our debut album Cuidado Con El Perro!
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Probably something like a double meat mixed kebab with cheese and chilli and Garlic Sauce. We might not actually sound like that, but we sure eat a lot of kebabs after shows, and we think it filters into our music.
Which song resonates most strongly and why?Lawman. It’s pretty long on the album (
9:09 minutes) and live we extend it even further, but the vibe with the crowd is always good and we all enjoy playing it. Plus we all get our moment in the sun, and what sort of musician doesn’t love self indulgence?
Any on the road anecdotes? One time we drove to and from Lockhart (about a nine and a half hour drive) on a boiling hot day during the bushfire season. Our drummer Jonathan Candy was (understandably) suffering from extreme exhaustion around
3 am and so decide to munch down a handful of No-Doze. He then proceeded to drift in and out of consciousness and freak us out by telling us he could see things hanging from the trees and saw a giant white shape walking across the road in front of the van. Long and short of it, he passed out on his drum hardware bag in the back of the van while we were getting fuel, and we eventually got home without incident.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
The bitterness of raw, unsweetened cocoa! In reality, just from whatever, we write the music then sing whatever over the top.
What’s next for you? We’ll probably tell ourselves that we should take a break and sort out recording our next album, but we’ll probably just gig a heap and not rehearse much like we are currently and hopefully the album will just happen.
What’s your scene?
Pretty much anywhere where someone will watch us play, even if it’s just the bar staff.
