Australian rock royalty The Angels performed in front of a 13,000-strong sold-out crowd at Werribee Park on the south-west outskirts of Melbourne as part of the One Electric Day festival. It’s been almost five decades since guitar playing brothers Rick and John Brewster co-founded the iconic band in Adelaide and have since penned some of Australia’s most anthemic tracks.
The Angels were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in October 1998. These days, John’s son Sam Brewster plays bass, and Nick Norton plays drummer. Following the passing of long-time front man Doc Neeson, Dave Gleeson of The Screaming Jets joined The Angels as their lead singer mid-2011. Wilbur Wilde joined the band as guest saxophonist on one song.
