Scene News: Skyhooks Guitarist Bob ‘Bongo’ Starkie forced to cancel ‘Ego Is Not A Dirty Word’ 50th Anniversary live celebrations with his band Bob ‘Bongo’ Starkie’s Skyhooks Show

Legendary SKYHOOKS guitarist BOB STARKIE has today announced that health issues have forced him to cancel an upcoming run of shows with his acclaimed band BOB ‘BONGO’ STARKIE’S SKYHOOKS SHOW. The run, which was to take in shows at The Yarraville Club on Oct 10, Theatre Royal Castlemaine on Oct 12,The Memo Music Hall, St Kilda on Oct 24, Archies Creek Hotel on Oct 25 and The Memo in Healesville on Oct 26, was in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Skyhooks’ EGO IS NOT A DIRTY WORD album.

While the cancelation is due to ongoing issues with Bob’s previously announced battle with leukemia, Bob is hopeful that the shows will be rescheduled in the new year. In the meantime, all tickets will be refunded. Skyhooks changed the face of Australian rock’n’roll in the ’70s with their record-breaking debut album Living In The ’70s and its also massive follow-up Ego Is Not A Dirty Word. Bob started his Skyhooks Show in 2015 and has been selling out venues all over Australia ever since, keeping the music of Skyhooks alive. The band these days features new lead singer SASHA THEUNISSEN, a 21-year-old emerging Super Star who loves the 70s and brings a new energy to the band line-up as well as an uncanny ability to match Shirl Strachan’s siren-like pitch.www.flyingsaucerpresents.com.auBOB ‘BONGO’ STARKIE’S SKYHOOKS SHOW featuring SASHA THEUNISSEN on lead vocal – All My Friends Are Getting MarriedFollow Flying Saucer Presents!
