Recipe Scene: Tim Tam Truffles

These are so ridiculously easy and delicious that everyone should know how to make them. I wasn’t planning to post the recipe because there are only 3 ingredients and they really are so simple, but a few friends have asked me to do so, so here it is. You can of course use any flavour Tim Tam you like. They can also be coated in lots of different things. I’ve included photos of them coated in chocolate, but other things I’ve rolled them in that have worked well include cocoa, desiccated coconut and chopped nuts. When making them I use light cream cheese, so I can pretend that they are sort of healthy.

250 grams cream cheese

3 packets Tim Tams

Ingredients to coat – melted chocolate, coconut, cocoa, crushed nuts etc

  1. Remove the cream cheese from the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature
  2. Chop the Tim Tams – you want them reasonably finely chopped, but also with a few smallish chunks. Mix the biscuits with the cream cheese and form into small balls.
  3. If coating with coconut, cocoa or nuts do so straight after rolling into balls. If you are coating them with chocolate, place in the fridge for about 15 minutes to allow them to set a little.
  4. Melt chocolate in the microwave, then dip the balls into chocolate. If you like you can drizzle them with a contrasting coloured chocolate.
