Recipe Scene: Nutella Bread and Butter Pudding

I love bread and butter puddings. Not only are they really quick to make, they taste just delicious. It doesn’t matter how messy the sandwiches are, because it’s all going to be covered with delicious custard anyway. I’ve used Nutella in this one, but if you want you can use butter, and add sultanas.

16 slices of white bread

700 mls milk

3 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

150 grams sugar

80 grams plain flour

Cream and ice cream for serving

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Make 8 sandwiches with the Nutella (I don’t use butter, but you can) and cut each sandwich into quarters. Arrange the sandwiches in a dish so the cut corner is facing up.
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large jug and blend until very well combined. Pour this over the sandwiches. You can leave the pudding to sit, or you can put it straight in the oven.
  3. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the tops are crunchy and golden and the custard is cooked. Serve with cream and / or ice cream.
