Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
[pullquote]YoWo Music formed in 2015 to give young women in high school an opportunity to play and learn about music in a supportive environment. [/pullquote]We are about to release our first YoWo Ep with 4 original songs. They’re all written by different girls doing YoWo (Young Womens Music Program) which makes for mix of different sounds and styles of music. We had a lot of support and guidance from the mentors and also other band members, to really workshop the songs and make them great. It’s been amazing having the opportunity to be a part of the process of writing and rehearsing the music all the way through to recording and releasing the tracks. I’m super excited to be launching the EP this Sunday 27th of November at Bella Union with support from Allysha Joy.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time? (your own or group work)
A song I’ve recently written called High. I had a lot of fun writing and workshopping it, also getting help and ideas from other girls and mentors YoWo. The song will feature on our Ep.
What or who inspires you?
All kinds of music. Friends. Artwork. Fashion. Love. Nature. People who push the boundaries for the greater good.
What song do you wish you wrote?
Imagine – John Lennon
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Something unexpectedly tasty, a little strange but then soothingly yum.
What’s next for you?
Continuing to write and learn more about music. Getting more experience playing in band, performing, and all the other stuff that goes on behind the scenes of being a musician. YoWo is so great – they give us so many amazing opportunities.
What’s your scene?
Cooking, surfing and skating (whenever I get the chance). Lots of vegan, Japanese and Vietnamese food.
