Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?

We released our new single, ‘Bojke’ (Boy-ke) On June 5th, and it’s we’re so stoked to have it out in the world. The song is about an ode to our bassist’s dog that passed away recently. Her name was Bojke.

We’re touring our new single with Melbourne mates, ‘Stonefox’. Hitting up Sydney, Melbourne and finishing in our home town of Adelaide. It’s going to be such an exciting time.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

Lasagne!

Because there’s just so many vocal and instrumental layers in our sound, just like lasagne. Also, I love lasagne.

Which of your songs resonate most strongly and why?

Bojke definitely resonates strongly amongst the band, because everyone shared Bojke’s presense. She was loved by all of us.

Tell us a quick, on the road, anecdote.

We once took a baby kangaroo on tour with us. Her name was Roobee. She’s now living it up with the big kangaroos.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Listening to other people’s music, locally and internationally.
Also, winter plays a big part in my songwriting. I get inspired to write when I’m warm by the fire.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

There’s too many I could name, but I right now all I can think of is,
Blood – The Middle East.

What’s next for you?

We’ll be heading off on tour this week! Which we’re so excited for. After the tour, it’s back in the studio for our next single.

What’s your scene?

Food is my scene. Food is my life. No other scene matters.

THE WINTER GYPSY:

The Winter Gypsy are a six-piece indie folk group from Adelaide, South Australia. Forming as a collusion of four separate bands in August, 2015, the band ranges from soft folk melodies and haunting vocal harmonies to soaring, upbeat instrumentals. The band has a complex dichotomy of both ambient and driving, distorted solos. Drawing comparisons to The Middle East, Bon Iver, and Bombay Bicycle Club, their sound is complemented by an intense and intricate range of instruments.

Supporting the likes of Harts, Little May, Tash Sultana, Mosquito Coast, High Highs, Slum Sociable, and Tiny Little Houses; the band’s loyal fan-base has resulted in several sold out headline shows.
