Tell us about your new single Fault Line?
- Fault Line was inspired by my own experience of navigating change over the past year and learning to trust my instincts. It’s about taking that risk on yourself and going for it even when it feels impossible. It lives in the space between excitement and fear of leaping for your dreams and discovering hope in the possibility of it all.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time? (your own work)
- I honestly think that this song ‘faultline’ is my favourite currently. I connect with it so deeply because it reflects exactly where I am in my life right now. Every time I play it, it feels like it’s holding my hand through that uncertainty. It’s a reminder to keep taking the next step, and moving upward and I think that’s why it means so much to me.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
- Hmmm I really like this question!! I would say it’s like the first bite of sourdough toast in the morning with butter, honey and a coffee!! So comforting, familiar, and won’t disappoint you!!
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
- There have been so many good moments, but recently Tim and I had a bit of a power session in the studio and dissected and rewrote almost an entire song in about an hour and a half. We were bouncing ideas around, getting so amped up when a lyric landed, and ended up recording it that same day. It’s now probably my most favourite song we’ve worked on, and I can’t wait to share it later this year!
What, or who, inspires you?
- Many people inspire me, my friends, my fam, many other musos. I think, ultimately, I’m inspired by genuine people and good music. Live music especially has always been a huge one for me. There’s something so special about watching an artist connect with a room full of people that reminds me why I love doing this.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
- It would have to be “Seventeen Going Under” by Sam Fender. Every time I hear that song, I am so wrapped in it. It’s a real masterpiece. A close second would be ‘Long blue Light’ by Leif Vollebek. But there are many songs I wish I wrote haha!
What’s next for you?
- I’ve just wrapped up an incredible week in the studio with my producer, Tim Goodburn, recording new music that will be rolling out over the next six months. It feels really special to finally have these songs finished after spending so much time writing, refining and discovering who I am as an artist. This month, I’m heading out on my very first headline tour, which is something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time. After that, I’ll be travelling to Canada to play shows, and I couldn’t be more excited. The past year has been all about finding my sound and making music that feels completely true to me. It feels like I’m finally stepping into the artist I’ve always wanted to be, and I can’t wait to share this next chapter with everyone.
What’s your scene?
- I’m part of the indie-folk pop scene, and I feel really lucky to be surrounded by a supportive community of artists and creatives. Being based on the South Coast has shaped so much of who I am creatively, and I love that there’s such a genuine, collaborative spirit here. If I’m not writing or playing gigs, you’ll find me hanging out with my friends and family, talking everyone’s ear off, and drinking far too much coffee.
