Tell us about your new single/ album/ showcase gig at AWME?
At my AWME showcase I’ll be sharing some tunes from my EP as well as a bunch of unreleased tracks, all in stripped back acoustic mode.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
A bit like cookies and cream icecream. It’s got some soft and sweeter moments but there’s also a good chance you’ll come across the rougher grittier bits.
Which of your songs resonate most strongly and why?
Different people seem to be connecting with different songs. But personally I’ve really been enjoying playing my new track “Emotion”. I feel as if it brings together a bunch of elements I’ve wanted to put into a track for a while now.
Tell us a quick, on the road, anecdote.
While on tour there can be quite a bit of time sitting around between load in, sound check and the show. When touring Quebec with Kim Churchill we found ourselves in a band room freestyling songs in French, the catch was we don’t really know French. The best we ending up with was a song about Cheese where we basically just say “fromage” a lot. It’s surely gonna be a hit and available for preview on Kim’s Facebook page!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
General life seems to be the base behind a lot of my tracks. Personal experiences and feelings tend to make an appearance in several of my tunes.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
Happy Birthday would be a good one to add to the catalogue. However, it does seem a little miserable sometimes for such a joyous occasion. Maybe Happy Birthday but a little more up beat.
What’s do you expect to get out of AWME this year?
I’m aiming to continue to introduce what I do to the industry while having a fun hometown show.
What’s your scene?
Experiencing good music with mates over a cold beer on a nice day.
