Q&A Scene: Greedy Smith ~ MENTAL AS ANYTHING

Greedy Smith answers a few questions for What’s My Scene ahead of hitting the stage with Mental As Anything at the Flying Saucer Club this Friday night and at the Meredith Music Festival on Saturday.

What’s your favourite work at this point in time?

Dance With You (Beautiful) from the live concert video available through our Facebook group this week.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

Combination short soup or paella. A mix of cooked tasty treats colliding in the bowl.

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.

In the 70s we would travel lying down on our PA system in two Kombi vans all over Australia.

What, or who, inspires you?

Dolly Parton, Elvis Costello, Paul Kelly.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

ITCHYCOO Park by the Small Faces. To me it’s perfection. The other one would be Pleasant Valley Sunday by the Monkees, written by Carole King.

What’s next for you?

Releasing Mental As Anything at Play. The live album. We will promote it by more live playing.

What’s your scene?

Oversized baggage counter at Virgin anywhere in Australia. Any place Mentals appear. [pullquote]42 years of touring makes the stage the scene.[/pullquote]
