What’s your latest album/ tour?

New Album: “Goin’ Back Down”

What’s your favourite work at this point in time? 

“Too Little, Too Late” from the new album.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why? 

Interesting.  Maybe custard – thick and sweet with the occasional lump!

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.

At the International Performing Arts Centre in Moscow the three of us had two bodyguards each, one on each shoulder.  They accompanied us everywhere we went except actually on stage – even into toilets.  We couldn’t decide if it was for our own protection or to prevent us escaping!

What, or who, inspires you?

Lots of people but especially the really old blues guys – Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Freddie King.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

“Dark Was The Night” – Blind Willie Johnson.

What’s next for you?

I’m totally absorbed at the moment in getting ready for the album release and Australian tour dates.  Can’t wait to actually hit the stage and have some fun!

What’s your scene?

It’s all about music.  Probably jamming on the back verandah and having a few drinks with my muso mates is about as good as it gets for me. And on tour those two hours on stage are always the highlight of every day.

Dave Hole is an Australian Blues Rock slide guitarist who burst onto the international scene in 1991 with his first album, “Short Fuse Blues”, which was picked up by America’s most prestigious blues label, the Chicago based Alligator Records.  He has since released a further eight albums; all of which have earned critical acclaim from such publications as ‘Billboard’, ‘Guitar Player’, ‘Guitar World’, ‘The Washington Post’, ‘Chicago Tribune’ and ‘Esquire’ magazine.   His “Under The Spell” album won an Australian ARIA ward.

After innumerable world tours Dave’s explosive live show has earned him accolades from around the globe.  He has headlined festivals in America, , Germany, Denmark, Holland, France, Switzerland, Norway, Brazil, Sweden, Russia, Austria, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Canada, Poland and The Czech Republic.  Dave Hole has a world-wide fan base and is widely regarded as one of the all-time slide guitar greats.  He will be touring Australia in May in support of his new album “Goin’ Back Down” which is out April 27.  www.davehole.com
