Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
We are throwing a party this Friday to showcase a few of the songs from our new (5th!) record due out sometime this year – it’ll be the first time basically anyone has heard these tracks, including us.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
South Indian Curry – rich, spicy, designed to be consumed in hot weather and leaves a lasting, blasting impression on your stomach
Which of your songs resonate most strongly and why?
From the past twelve years? Big question. Um… People always ask us to play this song the Birds that was just a live track. Maybe cause we sounded like idiots cawing away and people like a fool.
Tell us a quick, on the road, anecdote.
I always regret the night we were playing SXSW Texas and I couldn’t be stuffed partying and went home and missed playing Grand Theft Auto with Kanye West at the party the others went too. Lesson: never stay in when on the road.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Books. Swims. The 70s.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
Out of Time by Blur. Simple and masterful.
What’s next for you?
We’ll put the finishing touches on the record, pump out some singles, tour the world and return Clooney’s calls.
What’s your scene?
Sloth Goth
About Dappled Cities
Dappled Cities are overjoyed to announce a return to thestage, with a special one-off hometown show at Newtown Social Club on February 5th.
Having kept a low profile since 2012’s Lake Air, the five piece have been hard at work writing and recording their 5th studio album. Steering towards a rawer, live feel, they’ve been combining 70s jams with wild rides of electronic glory.
Expect to hear a sample of the new material, alongside a selection of their favourite tracks from past albums on the night.
