Tell us about your involvement at Spiegel Rock?
The organisers Danny and Emma thought my band would work well in that setting. We are kind of a psychedelic party band these days. So i was most happy to get involved
Tell us about any upcoming singles/album/tours for yourself?
I’m deep into writing my fifth opus, tentatively titled ‘Sick of Winning’. I’ll start recording in a few months and hope to have it out in october. I’ll just do solo jaunts and the odd band show til then, and then some solo shows in Europe in August .
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
Sitting under a pandanus tree on a beach somewhere, working on a large Margarita.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
It’s a large colourful salad made of various psychedelic cacti with a frenzy of Australian native garnishes. I’m not sure why
Tell us a quick on the road or studio anecdote.
the last show i did in Dublin i ended up visiting various bars with Littlefinger from Game of Thrones. The whole city wanted his photo and various punters thought i must have been in GOT as well. I went along with it for a while but got sick of the photos and guilt
What, or who, inspires you?
Environmental activists who get out into the bush and fuck things up for the big corporations. Particularly those ones that don’t talk about themselves on social media. i hope someone takes down the Galilee basin project in a spectacular manner

What’s your scene?
A relentless cycle of frenzied socialising followed by a shocked retreat up north. Sometimes this reverses like El Nino

The six-piece Dan Kelly Dream Band is a widescreen psychedelic party with ultra-narrative lyrics, dancing and gravity defying hair styles and features members of Augie March, Ground Components, CW Stoneking’s band and the Magic Mountain Band.
Having toured or 15 years with Paul Kelly as his guitarist and played on four of his albums, he’s also performed and recorded with the likes of Martha Wain- wright, Augie March, Courtney Barnett, Neil Finn and Kasey Chambers. Dan has released four lauded CDs and two EPs over the past ten years and received seven ARIA nominations, a J Award nominee and won The Age Award for Best Male Artist in 2010. His 2015 album, Leisure Panic! was nominated for the Aus- tralian Music Prize for Album of the year.

Brought to you by the team that presented 2016’s sell-out Reservoir Stomp, Spiegel Rock will set the scene for live collaboration between rock bands and circus performers on Sat 18th Feb under the roof of the historic Melba Spiegeltent in Johnston Street, Collingwood (right next to the Tote). It’ll be spontaneous, it’ll be bedazzling, and it’ll be wild. In fact, it might just be the wildest thing that’s ever happened inside its mirrored walls.
The Melba Spiegeltent has had a rich history – built in Belgium in 1910 (originally called The Bacaladera), it travelled across Europe and hosted numerous legends including France’s national chanteuse, Edith Piaf. In 2006 it migrated to Australia. On Saturday 18 February, the Spiegeltent will throw open its beveled doors and let the music rattle its stain-glass windows and shake its wooden joinery to the core.
