Tell us about your new single ‘SERIOUS’…
SERIOUS is a fun, upbeat, y2k-esque song that brings everyone back to the times they didn’t take life too seriously! And this is actually the second song we wrote together a few years ago, so it makes us feel nostalgic in more ways than one! Not taking life too seriously is something we definitely wanted to portray in our music video in which each of us has a role to play: a weather girl, a chef, and an aerobics instructor. These characters are expected to work diligently, but we’ve all got something else on our minds ;) I won’t spoil it too much so check it out for yourself! We’ve given this project everything we’ve got from the song’s creation to its promo from our own homes during lockdown. Getting our music out there helps us remain positive during these times and we hope it provides a little piece of happiness to our fans too.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
Okay we swear this isn’t shameful self promo but it truly is SERIOUS. Whenever someone’s asked us which is our favourite song we wrote, it was always SERIOUS. It’s been a long time coming getting this song out there and there’s just something special about seeing your own vision come to life. Looking back, It’s crazy how far we’ve come from when we wrote this song in my cozy room with endless snacks, to us looking glammed up and wearing boujee costumes for our music video.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
We love any food related question so thank you for this! Personally, I’d say PIZZA because it’s so versatile. You can have different toppings, flavours, have it savoury or as a dessert, and have it vegan or vegetarian! Basically, it has a range in different flavours and that’s something we definitely do our best to portray in our music both originals and covers. We all have different skills and experiences to bring to the table, like my (Bernie) music production, Gabby’s background in classical music, and Tay’s RnB influence. We’d make a flavoursome pizza!
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
While recording SERIOUS in the studio, Gabby and her crazy vocals broke our producer’s autotune plugin! Well not actually… the Antares autotune plugin that we use during mixing couldn’t detect what note Gabby was hitting when she was harmonising ABOVE her whistle note in SERIOUS. So she totally exceeded the plugin’s capabilities. It shocked the whole team!
What, or who, inspires you?
If we’re talking about a current artist, we can all agree to say that the iconic duo, Chloe x Halle, inspires us! Their versatility and love for their craft are qualities we value in our own work. We’re proud to say they even noticed us once on Instagram when they shared our cover of their song ‘Forgive Me’! It was unforgettable!
Which song do you wish you wrote?
‘Untouched’ by The Veronicas, hands down. It’s got an infectious melody, the strings just put you in your feels, and it makes you want to live your best life. We swear it’s becoming a timeless classic.
What’s next for you?
Lockdown can’t stop us! We love keeping ourselves busy with posting a whole lot of content on our socials, especially TikTok and Instagram! We’ve also had fun doing plenty of interviews and Q&A’s for our fans to get to know us better after our release of SERIOUS. And seeing the success of our new single, there might even be another single release on the horizon (did you see what I did there?).
What’s your scene?
All three of us in matching outfits strutting like the main characters to the local sushi train to stuff our faces with $100 worth of sushi in celebration of an amazing studio session.

Released today, their impressive new single Serious is a total bop, accompanied by a vibrant, 2000s-inspired music video directed by Rowena Rasmussen of JTown Creative (Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Jessica Mauboy).
Pop superstars H3RIZON, consists of Bernadette Marquez (Bernie), Taylah Albert (Taya) and Gabrielle Montalbo (Gabby). With 1.7 million followers on TikTok, fans are eagerly anticipating the BlockPlay-backed EP and associated music NFT collection. Serious is a cheeky little pop explosion – bouncing synths and irresistible vocal hooks abound, inviting the listener to press play again and again. In the colourful, joyous and playful video for the track, the H3RIZON girls are television stars – Gabby is a weatherwoman, Bernie is a workout instructor and Taya is a chef – amongst a vivid set of neon colours and flashing lights. It’s a slick production, sweet and the perfect introduction to H3RIZON on the precipice of their pop music world domination, as the girls explain why H3RIZON just works so well, “With Tay’s RnB background, Gabby’s classical music influences and Bernie’s production skills, we found ourselves ultimately drawn to each other to form a ‘new’ girl group that follows in the footsteps of Destiny’s Child, TLC, Chloe x Halle, and Little Mix.” The upcoming H3RIZON NFT collection will consist of a set of crypto-fashion digital collectibles laced with the pop songs lifted from the EP.
BlockPlay is transforming how independent artists connect directly with their fans thru NFTs, as the digital label’s founder, Wilson Olegasegarem (artist name Wilsonn) outlines, “After the success of my own music NFT, we received an enormous amount of outreach from the music industry to do the same.
