Tell us about your new show?
Feminerd is a one woman comedy cabaret show all about what it’s like to be a woman and a nerd. It’s about the struggles that women come across in the gaming, comic and pop culture communities. It’s about finding yourself, finding love and finding your Hogwarts house.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Like a big bowl of pho.
Warm, comforting and with a hefty zing (I like to add lots of chilli to mine)
People usually high five afterwards too.
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
Most of the songs were written in collaboration with some very talented friends of mine. Andrew Strano and Lachlan McKenzie-Spencer, Anya Anastasia and Karin Muiznieks.
There is one song that I wrote the lyrics for on my own and Karin put it to music. It’s a love song to my husband called “I forgot to marry a nerd” I think that one is my favourite. For obvious reasons!
Any on the road anecdotes?
The last time I did the show I was just blown away by getting to talk and connect with people after the show. I had strangers coming up to me and telling me all about their passions. It was so beautiful and I feel so humbled that they would share these things with me, sometimes quite personal and intimate passions. It was wonderful to make connections like that.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
My favourite super heroes. Buffy for being witty and making time for her friends despite fighting the forces of evil. Black Widow for being the smartest Avenger and for kicking just as much but without having special powers and River Song who went to the end of time itself for her love and still being the sassiest badass archaeologist around!
What’s next for you?
The show is actually very much about anti bullying and I would love to adapt it and tour it as a school show.

Adele Scott is a graduate of the Victorian College of Arts, Musical Theatre program. After graduating with flying colours, Scott was soon drawn into the darkness, humour and freedom that is burlesque. Honing her skills as a teacher at Bottoms Up! Burlesque and Pole School, Scott taught neo, classic and chair dancing for 3 years, and specialized in fan dance. In 2011 she co-founded Badass Productions, a company devoted to showcasing new and established talent in a Vaudeville/variety format. Having produced more than 30 shows in less than two years, the Badass team are known as Melbourne’s Brat Pack of Cabaret. Scott is now producing a monthly burlesque show at Melbourne’s favourite madhouse, The Butterfly Club. “Miss Everheart presents: Early Burly” is a fun, silly, and raucous night out, that strips performance back down to the bare bones, just like in the old days of pure and simple entertainment. In between playing boss lady producer, Scott sings and dances weekly at cabaret and burlesque hotspots around Melbourne, in particular delighting unsuspecting audiences with her passion for Star Wars and all things nerd culture.
