Q&A Scene: Hound

Tell us about your new Single & EP?

The EP is a bottle of sparkling mineral water being opened under an ocean and the single is drinking that ocean to find that delicious sparkling mineral water.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

The best value for money meal at whatever pub we are in at the time. Because  it’s likely that’s what most of us have eaten before playing a note.

What’s your favourite work at this point in time?

Typically, whatever we’re currently working on at the time is at the forefront of likeability. Since I’m feeling fairly typical today, the next EP is my favourite despite the fact it hasn’t been recorded yet. Possibility is possibly the most fun anyone could think of having.

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.

On one of our Melbourne excursions last year we picked a random cafe for some breakfast bloody marys. It turned out they didn’t serve bloody marys at the cafe we picked. Instead of finding a cafe that actually did, we purchased the ingredients they didn’t have on hand to allow them to try making them. Tasted like saltwater, but we smiled appreciatively through all of it. Bless them. We are total fuckin’ idiots, in the mornings especially.

What, or who, inspires you?

Personally, laughter. If laughter is happening, then I find I can do pretty much anything without analysing it into subatomic scraps and setting fire to myself.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

That Song about Ana by Silverchair, so my rejection of it would lead to it not existing.

What’s next for you?

Flog this EP all over a few towns, rinse and repeat the whole bloody process twice more this year, have a cigarette, a coffee and a look around. If anyone likes what we’ve done by end of year, we’ll even think about some form of physical release. Physical release. Gross. LOL.

What’s your scene?

Drinking under my house.
