American heavy metal band Metal Church performed at The Croxton in Melbourne on Thursday 14 December 2023 to kick-off their Australian Tour. Formed in San Francisco during 1980, they relocated and became an integral part of the Seattle heavy scene that decade. They have released thirteen studio albums to date; two of their first three albums entered the Top 100 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Led by Kurdt Vanderhoof on rhythm guitar, Metal Church also currently includes bassist Steve Unger (Autograph), lead guitarist Rick Van Zandt (Rottweiler), drummer Stet Howland (WASP, Lita Ford), and singer Marc Lopes (Ross the Boss). Metal Church is touring in support of their latest album Congregation of Annihilation that was released in May this year.
