Tell us about your new single Don’t Stop Dreaming?
This song was written post-comedown from my first big tour. The last show I had played on that tour is still one of my most memorable shows and I had begun writing the lyrics in the green room whilst the headline band was playing. It was recorded with Joel Quartemaine ( Eskimo Joe ) and Edwin White ( Vance Joy ) and also wrote some extra parts in the verse whilst I was in Scotland working with Brad Arthur.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time? (your own work)
My favourite work would have to be Don’t Stop Dreaming and the music I am making currently. I really enjoyed the time in the studio I spent with Joel Quartermaine & Edwin White and really felt like we captured something special.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
I think it’s nice lasagne, not sure why I just really like lasagne and hope it’s that.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
When we were recording this song it was in the middle of a Melbourne Heatwave and the air conditioner broke down. We were cooking musically but also literally as well ha!
What, or who, inspires you?
I grew up attending the Port Fairy Folk Festival and when I’m making music now I can really hear the influences in my sound. I never understood how special it was to have some of the best songwriters in the world playing 20 minutes down the road every year.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
End Of The Affair – Ben Howard.
What’s next for you?
Heading out on my first headline tour playing in my hometown of Warrnambool, then Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
What’s your scene?
I love the folk – singer/songwriter space but with lots of energy. Fast guitars preferably.
