Tell us about your new single/album/tour?
Our debut album ‘Dream Life’ has been out now for around 8 months now and it’s the best one we have ever done.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
I’m not sure whether you mean musical work or job so will answer both.
I have to say musically it’s our album ‘Dream Life’. Hit after hit! It’s like a good hottest 100.
With my favourite job hmmmmm…. I did work in a computer games store once. Myself and the manger set up a tv with all the consoles connected and a chair under the counter so we could sit, hide and play games. We would take turns in serving customers while the other killed bad guys. I actually enjoyed going to work!
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote…
We once stopped at every pub we saw on the drive from Adelaide to Melbourne drinking a beer and or wine at each one…. we paper, scissor rocked to see who was the DD. I think in the end the DD won in the whole situation.
What, or who, inspires you?
So many things! But I guess mostly seeing local bands/our mates bands and being inspired to start writing better songs…
Which song do you wish you wrote?
There are so many! I can’t speak for the others in the band but I would say either Thriller by Michael Jackson or that Shooting Stars song by Bag Raiders seems pretty popular at the moment…
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
A late night kebab… it’s full of random shit, fatty, tastes great when you are pissed but when you wake up in the morning your breath stinks and you are left asking yourself why.
What’s next for you?
Touring Australia with our dads in Frenzal Rhomb in celebration of their new album then hitting the jam room to write a new album
What’s your scene?
I’m James Young, the owner and booker of Cherry Bar and CherryRock017. I figure, who better to hear from, about our latest and greatest 11th annual AC/DC Lane street rock n roll festival, than yours truly, so listen up…
We’ve got legendary San Francisco garage punks Dwarves. Southern rock/ psychobilly from Atlanta’s Nashville Pussy. The incredible female two-piece, Bala, from Spain, who sound like Patti Smith out front of Motorhead. Bottlecap must be the bastard triplets of fellow Swedish rockers The Hives and The Hellacopters. Plus the best rock n roll coming from our Indonesian neighbours in Mooner and Kelompok Penerbang Roket (KPR).
But lest we forget our locals. We had to have Totally Unicorn from Wollongong, who ripped River Rocks a new arsehole last year. The sexy psych-blues of Child. Debbie Harry out front of Eddy Current Suppression Ring is how I see lo-fi garage punksters Amyl & The Sniffers. From the “ninch” (Mornington Peninsula) comes the band on everyone’s lips Stiff Richards, plus the 2016 Cherry Awards Act of the Year, Zombitches. And we’ve still got some incredible aces up our sleeves people! So, don’t miss it and buy your tix early, blah, blah, blah.
