Q&A Scene – SOMA

Tell us about your new single Say It?

Say It is a playful collision of desire and fantasy. It’s about that magnetic pull—the person you can’t escape, the one who lingers in your mind and body. Told through the eyes of an alien falling for a human, it’s a flirtatious and lighthearted detour amidst the deeper, more emotional tones of my upcoming mixtape.

What’s your favourite work at this point in time? (your own work)

I’d say Cobra, my upcoming mixtape. It’s a sonic journey that feels like an unfolding story. Each track breathes with its own life, yet they all tie into something larger, something deeply personal. It’s the culmination of everything I’ve been building toward.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

It’s like a spicy margarita—refreshing, bold, and with a kick. The mix of smooth melodies, soulful lyrics, and sharp beats keeps it interesting, like a flavor you can’t forget.

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.

When I’m on the road, it’s a different kind of magic. I love the unpredictability of being in new cities every night, absorbing everything—the sounds, the people, the energy. I remember one tour stop when I ended up hanging out with some locals after a show. We ended up jamming together, sharing stories and sounds. That night, I recorded some of their voices, and those raw moments became part of a new track. I can’t wait to get back on the road and capture more of those spontaneous, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

What, or who, inspires you?

Kendrick Lamar’s storytelling pushes me to dive deep into my own truths and embrace my authenticity without apology. SZA’s raw honesty in her lyrics, combined with her unmatched talent and unique style, is a constant source of inspiration for me.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

FEEL. by Kendrick Lamar. The raw emotion and honesty he expresses in that track, along with the way he layers his thoughts, is something I admire deeply. It’s not just a song—it’s a powerful emotional release that I aspire to create in my own music.
