Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
We’re literally launching into space for our new video Ne’er Do Wells. Set on a space craft that our manager sent us to (because he thought it’d be a good gig). We’re playing a show at the Tote Upstairs (the opposite of space) September 4th to launch the video.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
[pullquote]he embarked upon a hiking journey following the local rail line to find a dead body… Later we had to inform him that’s actually the plot to 1986 coming of age comedy Stand By Me.[/pullquote]We’re like the Densuke Watermelon, of which only 65 are grown a year on a Japanese island. The sound is of high value, but not many people taste it.
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
‘Ne’er do wells’ , as for the purpose of promotion I thought I’d mention it again.
Any on the road anecdotes?
The band used to run a Video Store, one day we sent our drummer Scott out on the road to get lunch, he came back and told us he embarked upon a hiking journey following the local rail line to find a dead body… Later we had to inform him that’s actually the plot to 1986 coming of age comedy Stand By Me.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
80s VHS trailers , the universe , adjusting the tracking , women and ex-rentals.
What’s next for you?
After traveling to space we’ve decided to continue recording some songs and playing some gigs so we don’t have to get back into retail.
What’s your scene?
Whichever scene is accepting of embroidered blue polo shirts, light sarcasm and awkward quasi-experimental pop music.
Sansonus are an ex-VHS rental store that saw the decline in the market as an opportunity to try something more lucrative. Take the staff from the store and form a quasi-obscure experimental pop act.
Sansonus will be launching their second video, ‘’Ne’er Do Wells” at The Tote Upstairs on 4 September. Supporting are John Citizen & Twinspeak, $10 entry at the door. Ex-Rental VHS tapes from the old store, for sale on the night from $1.
