Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
Our new album is Titled “Truthless Faithless” and is as dark/brooding as the name suggests. It’s a bit of a snapshot into how we see the world and the vast arrays of trickery.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time? (your own or your group’s work)
This record as its honest AF.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
There is always too much Hummus. And Pete likes playing with the chickens at Debaser!
What, or who, inspires you?
Decent people with love in their hearts and truth in their heads.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
Tales of Endurance Parts 1, 2 and 3 by Supergrass.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Gyros. We are tasty, not a lot of messing around but filling.
What’s next for you?
Our album launch! November 18th at The Odd Fellow in Fremantle with supports from Rag’N’Bone, White Flag Army and Billy Black.
What’s your scene?
I’ll let you know when we find one!
About BATS
BATS deliver Truthless. This follow’s the previous singles Tarantula & 24 Hours, which were spun on Triple J, added to Double J, Community radio and Rebel FM.
Truthless is an unrelenting and unhinged guitar driven track that pushes sonic explorations of chaos to the point of obscenity. The title “Truthless” is one half of the forthcoming album release by BATS called “Truthless Faithless”.
The song is about we, the people being treated as if we are mindless, and being constantly pushed to breaking point by a barrage companies and government agencies spruiking things that are contrary to what the actual truth is.
BATS make music that they ‘feel’ and must make. They take no interest in what’s on trend or what others are doing. And when it comes to playing live these guys not only bring it, they nail it. Transcendent of era, Bats could be well placed in any decade of rock, but would stand out nonetheless with their swirling vortex of neo-psychedelic riffs and vocal melodies that glide around the mix like apparitions.
BATS is a roll call of esteemed Perth musicians: Michael Paver (TSOSJ, The Slim Pickins), Jozef Grech (The Infidels, Project Mayhem), Pete Acklin (The Volcanics) and Tim Stacey (High Horse, Ruby Boots), Tim Hamzah (The Belle Ends, TSOSJ) and they are here to stay.
