Q&A Scene: Melody Moon

Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
I’m coming out of a creative winter hibernation for this spring tour, heading to country Vic, Melbourne and NSW. Decided to head out solo this time and share some new songs, still raw and fresh.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
I’d say my songs are like salted caramel chocolate- they contain a bitter richness that hits in many places and an outer coating of optimism and sweet potential endorphins.

Which song resonates most strongly and why?
My newest songs are resonating strongly at the mo. Still unnamed but you’ll be hearing them out on the waves soon. Also still enjoy playing the songs from my debut album ‘Down to the Sea’, and embellishing.

Any on the road anecdotes?
Yeah i live on the road so life is always an adventure!

Where do you draw inspiration from?
I write my songs in nature, inspired by my surrounds and experience of life. Whatever I’m learning at the time or need to express comes through pretty easily on a quiet secluded beach.

What’s next for you?
Yeah i’ve got a new single coming up and another video clip in the pipeline, so some exciting things to look forward to :-)

What’s your scene?
I enjoy a range of scenes from big festivals to dingy pubs, but I guess what suits my music most is candle lit cosy venues with a good audience, or a market with kids running round fun too!

About Comedy 4 Karma

You’ll laugh yourself silly for a good cause at the Daylesford Town Hall at Comedy 4 Karma, a fundraiser for the Daylesford Dharma School on Friday 16th October. Following a wildly successful night in 2014 when the first Comedy 4 Karma was held and raised almost $7,000 net, the stage will be set again for a fun night out whilst the community comes together to help this unique jewel in Daylesford’s crown.

Last year’s stellar bill of comedians included Hannah Gadsby, Sammy J & Randy, Anne Edmonds, and Xavier Michelides, plus Dave O’Neil as MC and the bill for this year will be well and truly on par with that and will be announced very soon.

Confirmed for now is Melody Moon, who will be providing pre-event tunes to warm up the audience whilst they grab some great wholesome local food via the Organic Sunrise Food Van, and bid on the Silent Auction featuring excellent locally sourced items before the laughs begin. Also on the evening will be the chance to peruse Dharma School students art exhibition.

The evening, guaranteed to be filled with hilarity, will feature some of Australia’s most popular comics, all generously donating their time for free for this good cause. Comedy 4 Karma will be raising funds to continue the excellent work the teachers and staff provide as well as the massive job of moving the school to another site. Daylesford Dharma School was established in 2009 with only 15 students and now teaches close to 60. Comedy 4 Karma is an important and much needed fundraiser for the school, which continues to grow in size and reputation, and will relocate to larger property in 2016.

Founded on the philosophical principles of Buddhism, The Daylesford Dharma School is currently the only Buddhist primary school in Australia. The school teaches children compassion, wisdom principles, interdependence and respect for all life, with a focus on community connectivity and sustainability.
