Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
The single Hands is from my forthcoming EP titled Hieroglpyh, It’s the music that you hear on a dance floor when you’re making eye contact with someone you like the look of and you’re feeling good about yourself. It’s music to shake your ass to when you’re feeling just that little bit naughty and flirtatious. [pullquote]What’s next for you?
At this moment, a glass of shiraz.[/pullquote]
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
It’s 12 course degustation but in pill form, a bit like the three course dinner chewing gum in Charlie and the chocolate factory, only with more courses of course. We were promised food in pill form when we were told that we would all be living on the moon by 1999. The future’s not what it used to be..
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
I’m gonna go with other people’s music rather than mine… That’s a very very difficult question to answer because there is just SOOO much great music from all over the world… I really love flamenco sketches by Miles Davis from his album ‘Kind of Blue’ But I’m only saying that because it just popped into my head at this moment… I also like Tuvan throat singing. And Elvis. And Techno. And reggae.. and lots of other stuff…. Depends on my mood and if I can find it at that moment from my big pile of records.. yes I’m all about the vinyl… but that’s another story.
Any on the road anecdotes?
Yes. I once vomited on stage… well to the side of the stage actually.. someone might have spiked my drink. Possibly.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Many many things. People, places, ideas, art, music, philosophy, history… if you’re talking about musical inspiration I’m drawn to artists that push the envelope.. I think that’s too narrow though.. inspiration comes from being alive and open to new ways of thinking about things.
Asking questions is a good way to start … the answers you get are sometimes surprising or challenging, confronting even… that’s where I think inspiration lies.
What’s next for you?
At this moment, a glass of shiraz.
What’s your scene?
My scene is the people in my life that I have that I have the good fortune to know and connect with. The rest is just noise.
