Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
Vodka Ocean is a punchy, jangly indie/rock tail of woe that occurred at Splendour in the Grass 2013. In short, Frank Ocean announced he was cancelling… In a fit of melancholic sadness, I got to know vodka way too well… and subsequently the medical tent… My girlfriend dragged me back to our tent where I proceeded to throw up all over her rucksack/clothes leaving the rest of the tent unscathed. Naturally a song was born.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
It would have to be Vodka Ocean. Lyrically, it’s the most personal song yet and despite it being a funny story it reflects real regret. It’s kind of an on going apology for putting a huge dent in an otherwise awesome festival experience. She’ll forgive me one day. It’s also a really fun song to play… The fuzzy bass breakdown leading to an epic outro. It’s our danciest tune.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
Things generally don’t get too crazy for us. During our last single tour we played in Hobart and partied with the local band Lewes. The night abruptly ended when they started dance fighting resulting in their guitarist opening up his elbow on a piece of glass on the dance floor. The next day we went to an art gallery and saw 400 cast vaginas. We liked Hobart.
What, or who, inspires you?
Jeff Buckley… He provides the pillar of waily grunge seen in most of our music.
Which song do you wish you wrote?
The theme song to the cartoon “Arthur”… It’s a banger.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Mediocre pizza because for a long time we religiously ate it after every gig… And hopefully our sound is something that everyone either secretly or openly loves albeit for lunch, dinner, at 3am in the morning or cold and slightly stale for breakfast.
What’s next for you?
We will be releasing another cheeky single later in the year and close with an EP.
What’s your scene?
The Adelaide scene is tight and awesome and we’re stoked to be a part of it. Everyone seems to know everyone in a big country town kind of way. There are ample good venues around the place who are generally happy to have you on their bill. The scene isn’t as big as some of our neighbouring capital cities but its full of awesome bands that we love or would love to share the stage with.

Since breaking onto the Adelaide music scene in 2014, indie rock five piece Lost Woods have moved from strength to strength. Their debut single ‘Overflow’ reached the top ten on the Triple J Unearthed charts and received high rotation from many community radio stations across the country, including Triple J Unearthed, Radio Adelaide, Three D radio, 4ZZZ and Syn FM.
Their second single ‘Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant’, released through Pavement Records in Feb 2015 saw them undertake their first national tour to great success and with continued support from community radio.
