Q&A Scene
Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
[pullquote]Eliza is a can of soda. Full of pop.[/pullquote]We’ve been working on developing a new sound and style since last years tours and it’s time to hit the road and start sharing it with everyone. The tittle track of the tour is Eliza which was recently released. It was recorded in December of last year with Melbourne producer Steve Schram. Eliza Jones is a pseudonym. We used her to encapsulate the secret, sexual rendezvous that people experience throughout their lives. On again off again, intense but short lived, Eliza is the passing relationship that infatuates us momentarily but isn’t designed to last.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Eliza is a can of soda. Full of pop.
Which song resonates most strongly and why
I think our next single, Spark, resonates with us most. It’s style and structure is indicative of where we’re heading next and what we want to create.
Any on the road anecdotes?
Highjacking a hen’s night in Texas was pretty unreal until the illegal limo broke down 20 miles out of town. The sherif was understanding though.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
From old and new music, personal experience both good and bad, our inspiration comes from everywhere.
What’s next for you?
We’re working hard to produce more and more music this year. We want to create and come up with a catalogue that reflects where we are now.
What’s your scene?
Day sessions. Plenty of mates, BBQ and beers. Classic Brisbane winter.
About Fox and Fowl
Brisbane based indie pop outfit Fox & Fowl are delighted to announce a three date East Coast tour to showcase their new sound this June. Fox & Fowl perform in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane for a hometown show.
Notorious for a killer live show, the band (almost) sold out their debut EP tour last year and were privileged to support the likes of We Are Scientists, Eagle & the Worm, The Trouble With Templeton, British India, and Hightails. Super-producer Stephen Schram (San Cisco, Paul Kelly) then hand picked the lads to record a batch of new songs that would push them in a new direction.
The first cut from these sessions is new single ‘Eliza’, a beautifully crafted indie pop dancefloor filler that throws the shackles off their previous work. With another single on the way very soon, keep an ear out – Fox & Fowl’s energy and ability to pen killer pop tunes will no doubt force them into the Australian music spotlight this year.
