Q&A Scene: Ezekiel Ox ~ Superheist

Ezekiel Ox, the third and final singer of Superheist

Tell us about your new single/ tour?

We’re hitting the road to celebrate a brand new chapter in the bands career. The single has three songs on it, and to be honest we can’t pick a favourite. Why tour? The world needs Superheist at the moment, energy, power and all heart. This is music to make you move.

What’s your favourite work at this point in time?

The track from our new EP “Got The Bounce” is a massive step forward for the band. Our guitar player dw Norton has taken over engineering and mixing duties and it shows. There’s a lot of love in it, and that track in particular is so aggressive, fresh and well…bouncy! We’re using samples from hip-hop, Hollywood and twisting and smashing it into a fresh sound. Wu Tang meets Meshugga.

How would you describe your sound in food form and why?

A smorgasbord. It’s got it all, it’s huge, and it leaves everyone satisfied.

Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote:

One night when me and dw were driving back to the studio in Frankston, we saw a UFO. It buzzed us and we had to pull the car over and wait for five minutes while it hovered above us, darting back and forth. It looked like a massive ball of light from a distance, but when it got closer you could see the tech on the side of it. The aliens are coming, and it seems that they have their radios tuned into Superheist’s new shit. That what we were playing in the car at the time.

What, or who, inspires you?

The songs we haven’t written yet. The idea that the next thing we do will be closer to where we are right now, and then we’ll need to write something else anyway. The fact of my impending death also.

Which song do you wish you wrote?

It’s a tie between Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony and “Bring The Rukkus” by Wu-Tang Clan.

What’s next for you?

Finish writing our next album, which is called “MAMMOTH”, then take it to the punters live on stage. This one’s going to be special, the first time Superheist have had the same singer on two albums!

What’s your scene?

Metal, hip-hop.
