Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
Our new EP is titled ‘Fur Coat and the Peace Boat’ has just been released. It should be hitting No. 1 on the charts any day now, so keep your eyes peeled.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Since we’re probably too low-brow to liken ourselves to any form of French-sounding dishes with more diacritical marks than syllables, so we’ll go with a buffet. Our music is influenced by a smorgasbord of regretful indulgence, so I suppose that’s fitting.
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
Individual’s preference aside; probably Rich Man. It’s a passionate little number about the idealistic virtues of love that quickly descends into a free-for-all jam.
Any on the road anecdotes?
During our first tour, our van was written off after we became a victim of a bizarre case of Freeway Tomfoolery. We are not at any liberty to discuss further due to pending legal action.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
We mostly divine our inspiration from orgiastic encounters with Heavenly Muses.
What’s next for you?
More writing, more recording, more shows. Can you feel the excitement?
What’s your scene?
Without becoming too verbose about the current climate and general atmosphere of our scene (and excluding semantic arguments about the ‘who’s and ‘what’s), I would have to say it’s a pretty good one. We’re happy here.

BURN ANTARES is a five piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Sydney. Schooled on the blues rock of The Rolling Stones and Jefferson Airplane, to the soul and funk of Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye; the band are set to release their new EP ‘Fur Coat & the Peace Boat’ in June 2015. The product of many hours of melodic wrangling, the album was produced by the delightful music industry identity and producer Tony Buchen (The Preatures, Andy Bull, Tim Finn), and will be distributed through MGM.
Acquainted by a mutual love of 60’s and 70’s rock n’ roll, Grace Farriss (vocals, acoustic guitar), Sean Casey (keyboards), Daniel Murchison (Electric Guitar), Tom Hoglund (bass) and Thom Eagleton (percussion), formed BURN ANTARES in 2012.
BURN ANTARES quickly established themselves as a regular on the Sydney live music scene playing gigs including Surry Hills Festival, Oddley Wholesome Festival, Sounds of the Suburbs, Yardfest, Chugg Music’s ARIA Showcase and support spots for The Growlers, The Babe Rainbow, Little Bastard and The Murlocs on national tours.
