Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
Bones Atlas are super excited to be able to release our second full length album “Little Earthling” in 2015 with the lead single “Sex (On their Minds). We had an amazing time piecing this recording together ourselves in the Bones Atlas home studio over many months of 2014/15 – this is the first release we have put out with this current lineup and have tried to bring all members’ influences to the table and to listeners ears! we feel this recording has captured more of the raw driving power of a Bones Atlas live show. The single “Sex (On their Minds) hits you with charging steam train sounding drums, huge bass lines and soaring guitars – and delves into thoughts we all have at times! We are looking forward to bringing the songs to audiences through our rockin’ live shows where we can extend and improvise on the recorded versions of the tunes.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
[pullquote]We are looking forward to playing our music to as many new ears as possible and hope to meet many new friends and get them up and dancing [/pullquote]Creole Jambalaya (Soul food) – a unique mixture of flavours and textures created with many southern american influences, you can taste different cultures, languages and some kind of mystic voodoo vibe!
Which song resonates most strongly and why?
Currently we have found that “Sitting Bull” has had a strong resonance with some social issues in Australia. This song – which talks about indigenous rights and racial acceptance (using Sitting Bull – native american chief as the example) and translating that into Australia’s current climate of support for the recognition and respect for Aboriginal Australian culture and heritage has had some strong connections with positive people who take the optimistic message of the song to promote a better future for indigenous rights.
Any on the road anecdotes?
We played an outdoor show at Thredbo basically at the base of the mountain. It was freezing cold, I could barely feel my fingers trying to play guitar, our drummer was playing almost double time just to keep his hands warm and Sammy nearly blew up the underpowered PA with his vocals! It wasn’t all bad with a lovely rockin crowd, and the amazing staff – both boys and girls dressed in Bavarian bar maid costumes serving shots of schnapps – they definitely saved the day!
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Musical heroes such as Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Jim Morrison – all these prophetic type characters who changed the world with their art and unrelenting talent. We also take huge inspiration from nature, the ocean, desert, travels and experiences and trying to connect with the soulful side of the world (and people).
What’s next for you?
We are looking forward to playing our music to as many new ears as possible and hope to meet many new friends and get them up and dancing. We are gonna meet heaps of new bands playing around town and be hugely inspired by all the good music and art being created. We will continue to write songs and have already started demos for the next recording and we will continue to stay inspired to create good music.
What’s your scene?
Good vibes, soul food, great art and music – coming together to travel and meet new people and share new experiences. Having a good old time!
About Bones Atlas
Bones Atlas is proud to release their second full-length album, “Little Earthling”, in 2015.
The lead single – “Sex (On their Minds)” – is a big, fuzzed-out, funk rock track. Driving drums coming at you like a steam train through a dark tunnel, soaring lead guitar and soulful vocals, this track is a punchy blues rock tune that has the distinct Bones Atlas groove.
Initial tracking of the demos began in Bones Atlas’ home built studio in late 2013. Working tirelessly through 2014 many months were spent recording “Little Earthling”. The goal was to capture the energy of one of the band’s electric live performances in a studio environment. This song is about the one thing everyone usually has on their mind, and captures the raw tension of human interactions. “Sex (On their Minds)” has been produced to replicate the huge live
sound of a Bones Atlas show with studio quality audio. Mixed at Pyroelectric records and mastered by the legendary Don Bartley, the final product is a huge wall of a sound rock tune.
Bones Atlas is looking forward to promoting this 2015 release on radio, online, media and, of course, at many gigs!
