Vintage Guitar Scene: Vox AC30 Amp 1975

Featured Amp

Vox AC 30 Amp 1975 (serial number 75102163)

I bought this amp second hand in the mid 70s in Perth, Western Australia. I saw an ad in the local paper, called the number and went to the other side of town to check it out. It was owned by a keyboard player so he asked me to to bring my guitar along so that I could try it out. I plugged in and it worked and sounded good.

This was the first Vox amp I had played so I guessed it sounded about right and bought it for AU$425. This amp is on about half the songs from The Atlantics album “Flight of the Surf Guitar “and also the “Surfersaurus ” album. I was lucky as this is one of the best sounding Vox amps I have heard and has served me well.
