It’s been a decade since Emily Ulman last released a record, and Severe Clear has proven to be worth every moment of anticipation. With four acclaimed singles already lighting up the airwaves — Every Hillside, Mountains Mountains Mountains, Trundle and Fans in the Stands — the album has been embraced by community radio, national playlists and critics for its heart, honesty and haunting beauty.

Now, Emily Ulman will bring Severe Clear to life on stage in a one-night-only performance at the Brunswick Ballroom. Joined by some of her favourite musical collaborators, this rare band show is set to be — in Emily’s own words — “a once in a lifetime, won’t be repeated, never to be seen or heard again, extra special, sparkly dazzly show.”
Emily Ulman says:
“I loved making this record. It’s so me that I can’t quite believe it didn’t exist when I’ve been here all along… This launch is honestly once in a lifetime. I’m unlikely to play too many band shows after this one and instead you’ll find me writing, supporting and advocating for our local Aus artists. All this is to say that it would mean THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD to see you there. I’ve already imagined seeing you from stage, in my mind’s eye.”
During the recording process, Ulman reflects on a moment that felt like the opposite of déjà vu — jamais vu: recognising something entirely familiar yet strangely new. Severe Clear arrives holding that duality — intimate yet expansive, grounded yet dreamlike.
