Tell us about your new single New Remedy?
‘New Remedy’ came from a place of dealing with both internal and external struggles. The song kinda reflects those times when we feel lost or disconnected, but still have a longing to find clarity. Vulnerability is really at the heart of the track, I aimed to capture the chaotic feeling of trying to make sense of confusion while still offering a sense of hope.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?
My favorite work is always the latest project I’ve poured my heart & soul into, so right now, that would definitely be my new EP, Flexible New Replica. It’s a blend of like 80s retro vibes fused with a modern touch. Each track has its own individuality, but together, they form a cohesive experience that feels like one continuous story.
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
If I had to describe my sound in food form, I’d say it’s like a south east asian fusion dish — something familiar yet with unexpected twists. Maybe also times it’s straight up classic comfort food, like mac and cheese, but with a layer of something unexpected, like truffle oil or a hint of chilli. It’s a mix of nostalgia and freshness, grounded in something people can hopefully connect with.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
One of the most memorable moments in the studio happened during the recording of my latest EP. I was at home, in my makeshift studio, just me, my gear, and a lot of late-night coffee. I was working on a track when I realised I needed a specific sound, something raw and energetic, but I couldn’t find the right instrument to capture it. After some thought, I remembered there were random rusty golf clubs out at the bins in front of my apartment. I headed outside and grabbed them, came back inside and got my metal trash can, and started banging out a rhythm. The sound was unexpectedly perfect—loud, punchy, and gritty, just what the track needed. I ended up using that metal trash can as the foundation for the percussion in the song. It was one of those moments when you have to make do with what’s around you, and in this case, a rusty golf club and a trash can became the heartbeat of the track.
What, or who, inspires you?
I draw inspiration from a lot of places ! People, experiences, and even moments of quiet observation. Musically, I’m inspired by artists who push boundaries and aren’t afraid to blend genres, who combine nostalgia with something fresh. But I also find inspiration in the everyday… Whether it’s a conversation with a stranger, a feeling I can’t quite put into words, or a trip in nature. It’s the contrast between the familiar and the unknown that inspires me, and that balance of chaos and calm that I try to capture in my music.
