Tell us about your new single/ album/ tour?
My latest single Regular Touch is about feeling that freedom and contentment on your own after heart break. Not needing that attention or affection “Regular Touch” to feel happy or loved.
Perennial in a nutshell is a self discovery piece about my development as a person and healing process over the duration of almost 2 years while writing this record. It’s very emotional and honest and I’m so excited to be sharing it with the world soon. I feel vulnerable about opening up about the past 2 years of my life but I’ve learnt to accept vulnerability and see it as one of my strengths rather than a weakness. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to wear my heart of my sleeve and that’s what Perennial is all about and I can feel people will hear me out on this one, connect with me and I feel blessed to be able to make music that makes people feel something.
I’m so excited to take my new music on the road! It’s a brand new show with lots of fresh songs and visuals! It’s exhausting being on the road however, touring is my favourite part about this path, I get to meet so many people and make them truly feel something. Through giving and sharing my gift with my audiences they give me so much energy and drive and love to continue and never give up on my dreams. Sounds cliche, I know, but it’s just so true.
What’s your favourite work at this point in time?

Vera Blue is a collective, we work as a team creating experimenting and just having so much fun making moments and music that makes us proud. I work with Andy Mak who is my producer, Thom Mak my cowriter, Jackson, Engineer, in the past Gossling and most recently Adam Anders in LA. I love what we do as a team, it barely feels like work, it feels like family.
Tell us a quick, on the road or studio, anecdote.
My favourite memories on the road include our brunch and dinner adventures to find the best place to eat. When we were touring in the states my band members Ross, Dave and Sammy made a competition where whoever picked an awesome play e to eat won a point. I sent even think there was a prize in the end but it was hilarious when we ended up somewhere shitty where the food wasn’t good at all. The boys would never hear the end of it whoever it may have been.
I have a hilarious memory of when we were tracking my lead vocal for a song in a small one room studio, so everyone in the room had to be very quiet or you’d hear it in the background. Just as I was about to start singing in a very silent moment, Gossling did the most abrupt and interesting sneeze that made us all jump! it was that hilarious that Andy took it as a sample and put it in one of the songs. I can’t remember which song it was, it may have been Settle.
What, or who, inspires you? The people that come in and out of my life, relationships, friends. A lot of things really. Artists like Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel and many more
Which song do you wish you wrote?
River- Joni Mitchell
How would you describe your sound in food form and why?
Hmmmmm for me, chocolate because I can never get enough hehe!
What’s next for you?
There is so much a head for me and I’m so excited. Hopefully some international touring, traveling, collaborating and working on some new music soon.
What’s your scene?
I don’t really have a scene. My interests change quite often.

Directed by one of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists Cloudy Rhodes, the powerful ‘Mended’video is a celebration of love and womanhood. Cloudy explains, ‘I wanted to make a film where we witness the triumph of a young woman rising-up to the experience of love. I wanted Vera to be the protagonist of the film who falls from the night sky, out of the darkness into the light – her falling is a metaphorical representation of ‘falling in love’. Mended to me is all as about the female experience and that’s what I tried to convey through the visuals in this clip.’ An intensely personal record, Perennial traces the circular pathways between love and loss across its 12 tracks. The album is arranged into three chapters, which chronologically trace the development of Vera Blue; from her very first week writing, raw after the breakdown of a relationship, towards a place of renewed strength and vivacity. Included on the album is first single ‘Private’, with currently over 2.2 million streams worldwide, and ‘Mended’. The new album introduces a fully-formed Vera Blue, seamlessly synthesizing her folk past with a bold, electronic pop future. ‘“Perennial” is a term for plants that come back year after year, and I like to relate that to memory, feelings and emotions,’ says Vera Blue. “It’s what the record is all about; relationships can be very cyclical, or never-ending, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just part of life.”

Recorded between Los Angeles and Sydney, Perennial was written with longtime collaborators Andy and Thom Mak (Boy & Bear, Bertie Blackman, Silverchair) as well as engineer Jackson Barclay. It’s the product of countless hours spent crafting songs in the studio as a team and despite its new sonic elements, the album is underpinned by the classic songwriting that has defined Vera Blue’s musical growth. Produced by Andy Mak, and most recently co-produced with Grammy-nominated founder of Deep Well Records Adam Anders, Perennial arrives on the eve of Vera Blue’s fast- selling national tour, including her second appearance – and first as a solo artist – at the sold-out Splendour In The Grassin two years. Vera Blue’s debut EP Fingertips was released in 2016 and peaked at #3 on the iTunes Album Chart, garnered 3 x Top 100 ARIA Chart Singles and has been streamed over 32 million times world-wide to date. The lead track ‘Hold’ has reached over 19 million streams and peaked at #1 on the Spotify AU Viral Chart, Top 5 UK/US and Global Spotify Viral Charts. Perennial sees Vera Blue finding arresting new ways to channel a voice Australia has already fallen for. Unflinchingly honest, it’s the album she had to write, with a sound that is entirely her own.
